Current Limitations

BlockShift covers a lot, but no converter handles everything Elementor can do. Knowing the edges up front saves you time and sets the right expectations. Most of these show up in the Conversion Log so you don’t have to hunt for them.

Layout and styling

  • Some spacing and alignment on dense layouts is approximated rather than matched exactly, because Elementor and block spacing don’t map one-to-one.
  • Global Elementor styles (theme-wide colours and fonts set in Elementor) are matched as closely as possible, but are worth a final check against your active theme.
  • Very complex, custom-designed sections are the most likely to need a manual tweak after conversion.

Widgets

  • Elementor Pro widgets and third-party add-on widgets that have no block equivalent are converted through a safe fallback and flagged, rather than recreated exactly. See Supported Widgets for what has a dedicated conversion.
  • Builder-only extras such as advanced motion or scroll effects, and some pop-up features, don’t have a block counterpart and may need rebuilding with block tools.

AI Enhancement

  • It’s optional and requires your own Anthropic (Claude) API key.
  • It needs your server to be able to reach the internet (outbound HTTPS). Some locked-down hosts block this by default.
  • The page being enhanced must be publicly reachable, since screenshots are taken from your live page by an outside service. That rules out local sites (localhost, private IPs, .local/.test domains), unpublished or password-protected pages, and sites in maintenance or coming-soon mode.   • Results depend on how complex a page is, so always review the outcome before publishing.

Scope

  • BlockShift converts content built with Elementor. It isn’t a general HTML importer or a converter for other page builders.
  • It creates a new page for each conversion. Deciding how to take converted pages live (repointing links, swapping content) is a manual step you control. See the Migration Checklist.

The short version
