Why move to the block editor?

The case for leaving a page builder, what you actually gain, and where the honest limits are.

If Elementor works, why change anything? It is a fair question. Here is the case for moving your pages to the block editor that ships with WordPress, and what BlockShift is actually promising you.

The cost of a page builder

Page builders like Elementor are easy to start with, but they come with two long-term costs.

The first is weight. Every builder page loads the builder’s own code, on top of everything WordPress already loads. That extra baggage slows the site down, and it is the same on every single page whether the page needs it or not.

The second is lock-in. Elementor saves its pages in a format only Elementor can read. Switch it off and those pages fall apart. Your content is not really “yours” in plain WordPress terms; it is tied to one plugin, and to that plugin’s ongoing updates and fees.

What you gain by switching

Speed

Standard blocks output much less code, so pages load faster for visitors and score better on the speed checks Google and others use. This is usually the difference people notice first.

Independence

Once your content is normal WordPress blocks, it works with any modern theme, and you are no longer paying for or waiting on a single builder. Change themes and your content comes with you.

Simpler editing

The block editor is built into WordPress, so there is nothing extra to learn or install. Anyone on your team can update a page — which matters even more when handing sites over to clients.

A path forward

WordPress itself is built around blocks now, including full-site editing for headers, footers, and templates. Moving your pages to blocks puts you on that path instead of drifting away from it.

What this plugin promises

Plainly: it does the heavy lifting so you do not rebuild pages by hand. It reads each Elementor page and recreates it as real blocks, bringing across the text, images, structure, and styling. That is the slow, tedious part of any migration, and it is the part the plugin takes off your plate.

What it doesn’t promise

It does not promise a flawless, pixel-identical copy of every page with no effort from you. Elementor and the block editor are built differently, so some review and light touch-up is normal, especially on complex designs.

💡 The realistic goal

Turn days of rebuilding into a few clicks and a short review — not to remove your judgement from the process.
